“Moving our mother to Adult Family Home at Silver Lake was one of the best decisions our family could have made for her care. Miki and the staff have been absolutely wonderful caregivers! They are so attentive to her needs and desires, giving her lots of individual attention, and always treating her with compassion and respect.
Our mother is Japanese, and her food preferences do not include standard American meat-and-potatoes-type fare. They make sure she gets the foods she loves, cooking Asian dishes for her regularly, and bringing her special treats.
We feel so comfortable having her in Miki's care, especially during COVID-19. While we have not been able to visit in person, we have been able to see her through the front window, and the team helps facilitate Face-time sessions with her frequently. Miki is diligent about observing safety protocols, which gives us much peace of mind. We feel our mother is so much safer than she would have been at the larger facility where she used to live, and we feel she is getting much more companionship and mental stimulation.
Miki is also deeply involved in our mother's health care, and her attention to detail has helped tremendously. After observing our mother and reviewing her history, Miki recommended some medication adjustments, the result of which was my mother's attitude and engagement with others improved significantly. The care plans she creates are very detailed and individualized, and are very clear. We are so happy to have our mother in Miki's care at AFH at Silver Lake!”
